An email user is a full email account (attached to one of the plan licenses above), it has its own inbox that you can connect to outlook or Apple Mail, and will have the ability send and receive emails.
An email alias is a forwarding account. This allows you to receive email sent to an email address such as [email protected] and have it forwarded to an existing email address (user) such as [email protected]. An email alias doesn’t have its own inbox and you can’t send email from it.
POP3 based email allows you to download emails from the server and keep them on your local storage (desktop or mobile device), but does not keep a copy on the server. This means that you will not be have access to all emails and data via each device.
Exchange email, allows for a copy of the emails to be downloaded to your device while keeping a copy on the server. As a result, you are able to sync your devices so that all your email, contacts and calendar entries are accessible at any time from any device.
