Per the Certificate Authority/Browser (CA/B) Forum, the governing body of the SSL industry, EV certificates can only be issued for a maximum of 2 years. DV and OV certificates from Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte, Comodo, Certum and RapidSSL can be issued for a maximum of 3 years.
